Tahoe Maritime Museum

Tahoe Maritime Museum (TMM) was founded in 1987 by those dedicated to preserving the rich maritime history of Lake Tahoe. In 2008 the Museum moved into its current location in Homewood, California on the west shore. TMM is a non-profit 501(c)3 striving to be a good steward of our local, regional, and maritime history. We have exhibits, family programs, school tours, and more!

TMM will be CLOSED Oct 19 - Nov 2 **WE ARE MOVING!**

While the museum is staying put in Homewood, we cannot say the same about our storage facility in Truckee. After 12 years of storing our boats and other artifacts in Truckee, we are moving our storage facility down the hill. Our new location in Reno will allow us to better house our large artifact collection in a Museum-grade facility that is completely climate controlled.

Interested in helping us move?

Starting now thru October, Monday-Friday. We need help with all aspects of the move including packing up artifacts, towing and transporting boats and engines, to unpacking artifacts and surveying the collection, and much more.

If you would like to volunteer please contact the Museum by phone or email, be sure to tell us when you are available and what you can help us out with.   wave

Our Mission

To stimulate an interest in, increase knowledge of, and maintain watercraft and marine artifacts significant in Lake Tahoe’s maritime history through the highest standards of historic preservation, innovative interpretation and public education.
